Nintendo Wii U sales to end in Japan; will be replaced by ‘Switch’

Nintendo’s earnings have suffered from lagging sales of the Wii U and 3DS
Nintendo Co is ending sales in Japan of its Wii U home console “soon,” although it’s not saying exactly when, and similar announcements are expected in other regions. The Wii U, which went on sale from late 2012, is being replaced by Switch, which is set to go on sale globally in March 2017. Nintendo says it will show it to reporters in Japan on January 13.
The Japanese video game manufacturer behind the Super Mario and Pokemon franchises has already shipped Wii U machines for US sales through March, company spokesman Kenichiro Matsuura said Friday.

Sony RX100 V Cyber Shot launched in India; starts Rs 79,990

Sony’s RXV100 V series replaces the company’s earlier flagship RXIV100 cameras.
Sony India announced the new RX100V compact camera, their flagship model under the Cyber Shot RX100 series.
The RX100 V comes with a ‘Fast Hybrid AF’ system that combines phase detection AF and contrast detection AF with ability to lock focus in 0.05 seconds. RX 100 V includes a 1.0-type stacked ExmorRS CMOS sensor that improves processing speeds, expands memory buffer and optimises image quality, according to Sony in a press release.

Covering 65 per cent of the frame, the RX100 V has 315 AF points on sensor, advantageous for capturing rapidly moving random subjects. Lava believes that the Ivory Pop will ‘meet the evolving multi-media consumption needs of consumers.’

Apple AirPods shipments delayed, could launch only in January 2017: Reports

Apple’s AirPods, the wireless headphones which were showcased at the launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, are yet to hit the stores. In India, the AirPods will be priced at Rs 15,400, but there’s no word on when these are officially launching in the country. Now it appears the shipments are delayed further in the US, and according to some reports, the AirPods are looking at a January 2017 timeline for shipping.

According to a report in Economic News Daily, which is quoted by DigiTimes, Inventec which is the manufacturer for Apple’s AirPods, is expected to see a boost in revenue around the January period over Apple’s AirPods order. The report says Inventec’s revenues will rise 7 per cent on year and it cites market sources for these numbers…

Apple MacBook Pro price cut expected in 2017, new 32GB RAM variant: Report

Apple introduced its new series of 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro at its media event on October 27
Apple released its 2016 MacBook Pro lineup, but KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said that he expects the Cupertino giant to drop the price of the new lineup, and even add 32GB RAM support next year.
Kuo noted that Apple usually launches its products at a higher price, and only does price cuts on the units in the new year that follows. He anticipates that the drop in prices will be coming during the second half of next year. Kuo additionally believes that customers will gravitate towards the new MacBook’s once the USB-C market matures along with the Touch Bar.

Google Glass can make learning Morse code much easier as researchers have developed a system that teaches the code within four hours using a series of vibrations felt near the ear. Morse code is a method of transmitting text information in which letters are represented by combinations of long and short light or sound signals. Participants wearing Google Glass learned it without paying attention to the signals — they played games while feeling the taps and hearing the corresponding letters. After those few hours, they were 94 per cent accurate keying a sentence that included every letter of the alphabet and 98 per cent accurate writing codes for every letter, the researchers said.
