Snapchat’s Spectacles go on sale, and there are crazy lines to get them

Snap Inc’s Spectacles have gone on sale, and there’s a huge rush to get them.
Snap Inc, aka Snapchat’s parent company has finally released its Spectacles, the $130 sunglasses that will let users record 10 second videos in one go and them upload them online. The company’s first hardware product appears to have a lot of people lining up to buy them. Snap Inc is using a rather cute-yellow coloured vending machine to dispense these.
Already on ebay, Snap Inc.’s Spectacles are retailing at $500 going up all the way to $1000 or more. Based on the tweets shared by Spectacles official account people are already sharing videos of their new Spectacles and videos they have shot with them.
Spectacles come with a 115-degree wide angle lens meant to recognise a person’s field of vision and will let users record videos of up to 10 seconds in go, altho…

Nintendo Wii U sales to end in Japan; will be replaced by ‘Switch’

Nintendo’s earnings have suffered from lagging sales of the Wii U and 3DS
Nintendo Co is ending sales in Japan of its Wii U home console “soon,” although it’s not saying exactly when, and similar announcements are expected in other regions. The Wii U, which went on sale from late 2012, is being replaced by Switch, which is set to go on sale globally in March 2017. Nintendo says it will show it to reporters in Japan on January 13.
The Japanese video game manufacturer behind the Super Mario and Pokemon franchises has already shipped Wii U machines for US sales through March, company spokesman Kenichiro Matsuura said Friday.

The best thing about Google’s new virtual-reality headset isn’t the headset at all. In fact, Daydream View would pale compared with Samsung’s Gear VR headset were it not for Daydream’s controller, a handheld device that responds to gestures and other motion.  With Gear VR, I have to move my head to point a cursor at something, then reach for a button on the headset. With Daydream, I can just aim and click the controller in my hand. Sensors in the device tell the headset what I’m trying to do, whether it’s swinging a tennis racket or casting a fishing rod. The headset’s display responds accordingly.

Nikon launches D5600 DSLR camera for photography hobbysists

D5600 offers an effective pixel count of 24.2-million pixels
Nikon has announced the launch of the Nikon D5600, which the company says is ‘specially designed for photography hobbyists and content creators’. The camera can maintain a constant connection with smart devices when using the SnapBridge app and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology. Using the app, still images are directly and automatically transferred to a paired device, which can then by uploaded or shared by users. This feature of the camera is what Nikon things will encourage users to go for it.

GoPro recalls new Karma drone over safety concerns

GoPro has announced the recall of all Karma drones sold since sales launched last month. The company said it is recalling all of the approximately 2,500 Karma drones it has sold due to instances when power cut out during flight.
“Safety is our top priority,” GoPro founder and chief executive Nicholas Woodman said in a release announcing the recall yesterday. “A very small number of Karma owners have reported incidents of power failure during operation.”

Sony RX100 V Cyber Shot launched in India; starts Rs 79,990

Sony’s RXV100 V series replaces the company’s earlier flagship RXIV100 cameras.
Sony India announced the new RX100V compact camera, their flagship model under the Cyber Shot RX100 series.
The RX100 V comes with a ‘Fast Hybrid AF’ system that combines phase detection AF and contrast detection AF with ability to lock focus in 0.05 seconds. RX 100 V includes a 1.0-type stacked ExmorRS CMOS sensor that improves processing speeds, expands memory buffer and optimises image quality, according to Sony in a press release.

Covering 65 per cent of the frame, the RX100 V has 315 AF points on sensor, advantageous for capturing rapidly moving random subjects. Xiaomi Mi Air Mask, has been launched in China which comes with a built-in, replaceable carbon filter. The Mi Air Mask from Xiaomi is a crowdfunded project and is available for sale in China at 89 Yuan (approx Rs 870). Xiaomi has become active in the air purification market in India recently, with the company launching the Mi Air Purifier 2 in September.
